As per a report from the Sun, recently-appointed Newcastle boss Steve Bruce is keen on the signature of Burnley starlet Dwight McNeil.
19-year-old wide-man McNeil burst onto the scene this past season at Turf Moor.
After coming up through the youth setup of Manchester United, the gifted teen came to the decision to depart for Burnley’s academy in 2014.
And McNeil has since gone from strength-to-strength, establishing himself as one of the most highly-regarded young talents in England.
Across 21 Premier League appearances in 2018/19, the Three Lions U20 international notched 3 goals and 5 assists.
McNeil’s pace, directness, delivery and eye for goal all paint the picture of a genuine star in the making.
As per the aforementioned report from the Sun, though, Burnley may well struggle to hold onto their crown-jewel this summer.
This comes amid strong interest on the part of the Clarets’ Premier League rivals Newcastle United.
New Magpies’ boss Steve Bruce is said to be a keen admirer of McNeil’s talents, with the winger viewed as a priority signing to ‘kick-start’ his era in charge at St. James’ Park.
As such, a £15 million bid is reportedly being readied by Newcastle. Such a sum, though, appears unlikely to coax Burnley into a sale.
Tottenham are also named as suitors of McNeil, while Serie A giants Juventus are keeping a close eye on the teen’s situation.
