Brighton’s Anthony Knockaert completes Fulham loan switch

Brighton & Hove Albion have this evening confirmed Anthony Knockaert’s departure for Championship outfit Fulham on a season-long loan.

Brighton stint

27-year-old winger Knockaert has been on Brighton’s books since the summer of 2016, when he made the move to the Amex Stadium from Belgian outfit Standard Liege.

The Frenchman subsequently went on to play a key role in the Seagulls’ successes over the seasons that followed, with Knockaert’s finest individual campaign to date having come in 2016/17, when he notched 15 goals and 8 assists in the Championship to help guide the club back to the English top-flight.

This past season, however, saw the talented attacker’s game-time take a hit.

Knockaert managed starts in just 18 of Brighton’s 38 Premier League outings, as Chris Hughton’s men narrowly avoided relegation.

Fulham switch

The arrival of highly-regarded winger Leandro Trossard at the Amex this summer, meanwhile, meant that Knockaert was likely to find consistent playing time equally as tough to come by next season.

As such, the news that Brighton have this evening come to the decision to allow the 27-year-old to depart the club has come as little surprise.

In an official statement across the Seagulls’ social media accounts a short time ago, it was confirmed that Knockaert has made the move to Championship outfit Fulham for the 2019/20 campaign:

Fulham, meanwhile, have since announced that Knockaert’s arrival comes ‘with a view to a permanent transfer’:
