Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney bid contains ‘too many add-ons dependent on CL qualification’ – Sky

Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports News has this evening provided an insight into the apparent terms and conditions of Arsenal’s latest offer for Kieran Tierney.

Celtic standout

22-year-old left-back Tierney has long been viewed as one of the finest talents to emerge from Scotland over the course of the last decade.

Despite his tender years, the stopper has already racked up well over 150 appearances for Celtic’s first-team, after breaking into the club’s senior setup for the first time in 2015.

Tierney is the complete modern full-back, combining solid defensive instincts and ability in the tackle with a stellar engine and creative streak.

Perfectly summing up the latter of these traits is the fact that the Hoops’ dynamo racked up 5 goals and 22 assists in the league alone over the last 4 seasons.

In many ways, Tierney can be likened in playing style to fellow countryman Andy Robertson.

Arsenal links

As such, Tierney’s fine form and room for growth have inevitably seen the 12-time capped international linked with a move away from Celtic Park.

Premier League giants Arsenal, meanwhile, have been the outfit most-persistently touted as a potential destination for the stopper.

To this point, however, the board at the Emirates have found Celtic a tough nut to crack.

After seeing an initial bid of £15 million firmly knocked back by the Scottish champions, an improved offer on Arsenal’s part was forthcoming last weekend.

The proposal, including bonuses, matched Celtic’s £25 million valuation of Tierney.

As such, an agreement was expected to be forthcoming between the clubs.

It subsequently emerged, however, that Celtic had once again rebuffed the Gunners, after taking issue with the ‘breakdown and nature of the instalments’ proposed:

‘Dependent on qualifying for Champions League’

And Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has this evening provided an insight into the terms of some of the bonuses involved in Arsenal’s latest bid.

It is suggested that the Gunners’ offer is heavily-dependent on the club securing Champions League qualification.

This is of course something that Arsenal have not managed in any of the last 3 seasons.

As a result, Celtic have unsurprisingly been left unconvinced by the terms on offer.

The Glaswegian outfit are therefore reportedly demanding more cash up front to proceed with negotiations.
