Antonio Conte’s Master Plan To Make Inter Milan Great Again

Antonio Conte Inter Milan Manager

Antonio Conte is making his mark quickly as he aims to take Inter Milan back to the top echelons of world football. But the former Chelsea boss has a difficult task on his hand at the former Champions League winner,.

Conte is already putting his stamp on moving Inter forward, and Italian’s priority is to get rid of the strong characters in the dressing room, including Mauro Icardi and Radja Nainggolan.

Conte appears to have learnt his lesson from his time at Chelsea, as he does not want to repeat the mistakes made with Diego Costa after the pair fell out, with the former telling the striker by text that he was no longer wanted.

But Conte’s battle with Icardi may be harder than thought, especially with his wife – Wanda Nara – as his agent. The Argentine, who has constantly been linked with a move away from Inter, was relinquished of his captaincy and endured a six-week exile last season during a troubled time for the club.

Inter, on Conte’s will, have already told Icardi that he won’t be captain next season as well as admitting to him that his new manager wants to sell him to avoid any potential controversy down the line. If Icardi leaves this summer, he wants to stay in Italy and won’t accept offers from abroad – with Serie A champions Juventus showing early interest.

Joao Mario is also a player who could be walking out the exit doors, and he has already received plenty of offers that don’t meet Inter’s asking price.

Monaco offered a lower figure than Inter want, while West Ham have also shown interest in taking the Portuguese midfielder on a permanent deal.

So Conte’s plan is clear, to sell the likes of Icardi and Nainggolan, who is attracting interest from Juventus, in order to raise funds for players willing to suffer for him.

While Conte is planning for departures, he is also looking to bolster his squad and one name at the top of his list is Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal.

Vidal is Conte’s dream as he wants a player – who he worked with at Juventus – with charisma to dominate the midfield and dictate the tempo of the game.

Conte is also desperate to bring in Romelu Lukaku, seen as a replacement for Icardi, from Premier League giants Manchester United. The pair have already spoken about a possible lucrative move, with the Belgian striker declaring himself ‘enthusiastic’ about joining the Serie A side.

However, without a big-money sale first, Lukaku is unlikely to be donning the Nerazzurri shirt next season as the reported £63million fee is too much for Inter.

Inter will do all they can to obtain a discount on Lukaku by possibly offering United a player in exchange. Perhaps Ivan Perisic is that man. A move to Old Trafford very much appeals to the Croatian but Conte is wary of taking all the big names out in just one year.

After putting together his preferred squad ahead of next season with marquee signings, Conte will then think about what system he wants to play.

And the manager is also heavily planning off the field matters, with Inter also choosing to recover most of Conte’s backroom staff from Juventus.

The 49-year-old former Italy boss has already snapped up former Juventus nutritionist Matteo Pincella. From now on, Inter players will be eating vegetables and bresaola – spiced, air-dried beef – for easy digestion.

It will take plenty of time for Conte’s ideas to come to fruition but with the right players at his disposal and his chosen backroom staff, Inter will be hopeful of returning to the top.

Aston Villa linked with Bristol City defender Adam Webster

Webster impresses for Bristol

Adam Webster joined Bristol City in July of 2018 from Ipswich.

Bristol City are believed to have paid around £3.6m for Webster, who had previously played 53 games for Ipswich.

After signing for Bristol City, Webster immediately cemented himself into their starting eleven.

The towering central defender made 47 appearances across all competitions during the 2018/19 season, scoring three.

Now, according to Bristol’s local paper the Bristol Post, Aston Villa are growing confident that they can sign Webster.

The report from the Bristol Post claims that Villa had a £12m offer rejected for Webster last week.

The Championship outfit are said to value Webster at around £30m.

Journalist Alan Nixon has also stated that a move to Villa for Webster is possible.

Nixon also claims that Villa are interested in Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips.

If Villa do land Webster, then he will be the latest addition in a big summer shopping spree by the newly-promoted club.

Dean Smith’s side have already signed Brazilian forward Wesley for a reported club-record fee.

Aston Villa have also signed Jota from rivals Birmingham City, as well as agreeing permanent deals for both Anwar El Ghazi and Kortney Hause.

The Telegraph’s chief football writer Sam Wallace also reported on Saturday that Villa had agreed to sign Matt Targett from Southampton.

Tottenham clinch €72 million Euro deal for Tanguy Ndombele – L’Equipe

As per a report from French outlet L’Equipe this evening, Premier League giants Spurs have finally clinched an agreement with Lyon over the signature of Tanguy Ndombele.

‘Would prefer to leave’

The links between Lyon standout Ndombele and Tottenham have been one of the talking points of the summer transfer window so far.

On the back of their Champions League final heartbreak earlier this month, widespread reports have suggested that Mauricio Pochettino’s men are finally ready to make a splash on the arrivals front.

Spurs have of course not signed a single player since January of 2018, when Lucas Moura arrived from PSG.

Ndombele, though, has long looked set to break that 18-month long fruitless streak.

When questioned on the future of his side’s midfield enforcer earlier this week, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas admitted that Ndombele was seeking an exit:

‘It would have to be very substantial offers to advance with Tanguy , who would prefer to leave.’

‘If he left – which isn’t the case today – we would look to recruit someone with experience. For the moment nothing has happened, but the door is ajar.’

Spurs find deal

And, despite ensuing rumours over the course of the weekend that Juventus had reignited their pursuit of the 22-year-old, reports stemming from France this evening suggest that Tottenham have all-but pushed a deal with Lyon over the line.

As per L’Equipe, an agreement worth an initial 62 million Euro, plus 10 million Euro in bonuses, has been found:

Crucially, however, it is added that Spurs have still not found an agreement with Ndombele himself.

In addition, somewhat surprisingly, it is also suggested that Manchester United could yet launch a last-ditch attempt to gazump their Premier League rivals:

Neymar sends message of support to former Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez following Copa heartbreak

Neymar has taken to social media to post a supportive message to Luis Suarez, following the hitman’s crucial missed penalty in the Copa America quarter-finals last night.

Uruguay crash out

Suarez’s Uruguay faced off against Peru, in the final of the Copa’s last-8 ties.

All of Argentina, Chile and hosts Brazil had already booked their respective spots in the competition’s semi-finals.

And, heading into proceedings last night, Óscar Tabárez’s Uruguay were viewed as heavy favourites to join their fellow South American heavyweights.

However, despite dominating the 90 minutes in terms of chances created, the new Copa format, which sees all quarter and semi-final ties skip extra time to head straight to penalties, eventually proved La Celeste’s downfall.

One missed spot-kick, the first of the shootout, proved the difference between the sides.

After Luis Suarez had seen his disappointing effort saved by Pedro Gallese, all 5 of Peru’s penalty takers held their nerve to send the underdogs through.

Neymar supports Suarez

Unsurprisingly, after costing his nation so dearly, Suarez, never a man to hide his emotions, appeared disconsolate:

One of the Barcelona star’s former teammates, though, has since moved to showcase his support for Suarez, in this difficult moment for the Uruguayan.

Taking to Instagram, Neymar, who has of course been heavily-linked with returning to the Camp Nou to reunite with Suarez this summer, posted the following message:

‘Get up.’

‘You are very great, brother. I love you, friend.’

Man City blow: Juventus in Joao Cancelo U-Turn – Gazzetta

According to reports in the Italian media, Serie A giants Juventus have changed their stance on the potential sale of Manchester City target Joao Cancelo.

Juve stint

25-year-old Portuguese international Cancelo only joined Serie A champions Juventus last summer, in a 40 million Euro deal from Valencia, after impressing on loan with Inter Milan the season prior.

The versatile stopper is generally deployed at right-back, with Cancelo having long been revered for his attacking abilities.

The former Los Che standout’s first season in Turin, though, proved something of a hit-and-miss affair.

Cancelo opened up the campaign in absolutely scintillating form, burning up and down Juventus’ right-flank with passion and quality in equal measure.

The stopper took little time in proving exactly why the Bianconeri had opted to splash out such a hefty fee on his services, quickly establishing himself as a firm fan-favourite.

The second-half of the season, though, proved a far more testing affair.

As Juve’s performances consistently left a lot to be desired, Max Allegri often opted for the more-defensively sound Mattia De Sciglio over Cancelo.

The 14-time capped international also came under heavy criticism for his performance in the first-leg of the Old Lady’s Champions League quarter-final exit at the hands of Ajax, as Cancelo gifted the Dutch giants an equalizer, amid a dismal all-round display.

Man City links

Nevertheless, though, on the back of Max Allegri’s departure being made official last month, it was widely-predicted that Cancelo would be afforded the opportunity to rediscover his brilliant best at the Juventus Stadium next season.

A growing number of reports across Europe over recent weeks, however, suggested that this would not be the case.

First off, Romeo Agresti, regarded as the source when it comes to Juventus transfer news, revealed earlier this month that talks had been opened between the Bianconeri hierarchy and Premier League champions Manchester City, over an Etihad switch for the 25-year-old:

And Agresti subsequently went on to add that a ‘breakthrough’ had been made in negotiations between the clubs two weeks ago, with a ‘final agreement’, worth 50 million Euro plus bonuses, having been expected to be reached ‘in the coming days’.

Juve stay?

To this point, though, such a deal has not been forthcoming.

The initial train of thought had been that Juventus were intent on selling Cancelo by today, June 30th, in a bid to balance their books for the previous financial year.

However, with a transfer having evidently not come to fruition thus far, and the Bianconeri having parted with both Rogerio and Matteo Pinelli this afternoon (and Leonardo Spinazzola set to join Roma imminently), it now appears as though Cancelo is set to stay put.

As per a report from the Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Calciomercato), Juve are ‘no longer convinced that they would be better off without Cancelo.’

As such, the Old Lady are said to have made a ‘U-turn’ regarding the stopper’s potential departure.

Rashford set for new Man United deal worth £200,000-per-week- ESPN

Rashford’s inconsistent season

Despite being just 21 years of age, Marcus Rashford has already earned an impressive 170 appearances for Manchester United’s senior side.

Rashford was promoted to the first-team in January of 2016 and has now scored 45 goals and assisted 26 for the Red Devils.

This past season was somewhat inconsistent for Rashford.

He started the season pretty slowly, scoring just once in his first seven league outings.

However, when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer first took charge at Old Trafford, Rashford enjoyed an upshot in form.

In Solskjaer’s first six league games as interim boss, Rashford would score five and assist two.

But the Englishman’s form would once again dip off towards the back end of the season.

Rashford managed to net just one in his last 11 PL outings.

Rashford set for new deal

Despite his inconsistent form, Rashford looks set to be rewarded with a bumper new contract.

Rashford’s current United deal runs out in July of 2020 with Man United reportedly having an option to extend it by a year.

Now, according to ESPN, Rashford is set to be handed a new contract that would see him earn a whopping £200,000-per-week.

The new contract is said to last for five years.

The same report from ESPN also mentions that Jese Lingard has been pencilled in for United’s next round of contract talks.

Lingard’s current deal runs until July 2021.

In a recent interview Rooney spoke about Van Gaal and claimed that he was the best coach he ever worked under:

“Van Gaal is by far the best coach I have worked with – one hundred per cent.

“His tactical skills, his way of preparing and his attention to the finest of details, I found amazing. I admired that in him. I had never looked at stuff like that before.

“Van Gaal knows that the way he works is tough for players. I made him aware of that at the time and we talked about this very well together.

“I regret how it all ended, yet I know one thing for sure – I have learnt a lot from him and I am definitely going to use those lessons for when I am a manager.”As quoted by Sky Sports.

A rather big claim when you have been managed by SAF.

Harry Winks believes he has become an important player for Tottenham

Winks’ time at Tottenham

Harry Winks is a product of Tottenham’s youth system

The now 23-year-old was promoted to Spurs’ senior side in 2016.

Since making his Tottenham debut, Winks has gone on to play 102 games for the North London club, in which he has scored two and assisted two.

When fit, Harry Winks has shown himself to be a top quality central midfielder who could have a bright future for both Spurs and England.

However, the young midfielder is often stricken with injuries.

During the 2017/18 season, Winks missed 17 games through injury.

Winks’ injuries troubles also saw him left out of the latest England squad for the Nations League finals.

Winks on his importance

Winks’ 2018/19 also saw him miss 12 games through injury, meaning he played in just 26 of Tottenham’s league fixtures this past season.

However, despite this, Winks seems quite pleased with last campaign.

In a recent interview, Winks stated that he feels he has become a key player for Tottenham.

The England international also mentioned how it was perhaps his best season at Tottenham:

“I had a relatively injury-free season last year until the end.

“I played a lot of matches, started a lot of matches and it was incredible, probably my best season so far at the club.

“I feel I’ve become an important player now and I couldn’t ask for more.

“If you’d asked me three or four years ago if I wanted to be in this position now I would have snapped your hand off, but the most important thing now is not to get carried away, to work as hard as I can and try to stay in there and maintain that position because there are so many top players here.”As quoted by Sky Sports.

Malcom struggles at Barca

Malcom made the switch to FC Barcelona in July of 2018 from Ligue 1 outfit, Bordereaux.

The Brazilian is believed to have cost the Catalonian side somewhere in the region of £36m.

However, since making his big move to Spain, Malcom has struggled for game time.

The 22-year-old would manage just 24 appearances across all competitions this past season, scoring just four and assisting two.

Neymar return

After such an average debut season with Barcelona, Malcom is now being tipped to be sold this summer.

Spanish outlet AS are claiming that Malcom could be the player Barca sell to make room for Neymar.

Barca’s three none European spots in their senior side are currently taken up by Malcom, Arthur and Arturo Vidal.

So, if they sign Neymar, Barca will need to move on one of the above-mentioned trio and AS believe that could well be Malcom.

The report from AS mentions that Barca would prefer to sell the Brazilian to the Premier League with both Arsenal and Tottenham interested.

The Gunners have been linked with Malcom already this past season and he could well be on their list of targets this summer as they do appear to be searching for a wide player.

Over the last few weeks, Arsenal have been rumoured to be interested in a number of wide players.

The main players linked have been Ryan Fraser, Yannick Carrasco and Nice’s Keita Balde.

Arsenal’s Jeff Reine-Adelaide sell-on clause revealed as top clubs circle Angers striker

Arsenal, Angers & Jeff Reine-Adelaide

Last summer, Arsenal sold Jeff Reine-Adelaide to Ligue 1 side Angers.

Reine-Adelaide joined the Gunners in 2015 from Lens, however the French midfielder never made it at Arsenal.

He only managed a total of eight matches for Arsenal, and all those appearances were in cup competitions.

Soon after Unai Emery replaced Arsene Wenger in the Gunners dugout, Reine-Adelaide was sold to Angers.

Race to sign Jeff Reine-Adelaide

Now 21, Reine-Adelaide made an impression in 2018-19 in Ligue 1.

He played 35 league matches, scoring three goals and chipping in with three assists.

This weekend French paper Ouest-France have reported that Angers’ president Said Chabane is willing to sell the former Arsenal midfielder for 20 million euros.

Ouest-France note that Angers only paid Arsenal 1.5 million euros for the midfielder, adding that some of Europe’s biggest club are now chasing Reine-Adelaide.

They include AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, Lyon, Lille and Porto.

Arsenal’s Jeff Reine-Adelaide sell-on clause

In a final point of interest, Ouest-France confirm that Arsenal have a sell-on clause related to Reine-Adelaide.

However, that clause only stands at 10%.

Yet, considering reports that Arsenal only have around 45 million pounds to spend this summer, any extra funds could help Emery.
